Daily 5 Anchor Charts & Voice Levels Freebies :)

*Update:  These are redesigned and updated with fonts by Jen Jones (so ADORABLE) and some bright chevron colors!  See the blog post here!

Have you heard of the Daily 5?  If you're a Pinterest hunter like me, you probably have.  If not, you are missing out!  It's a wonderful independent structure for literacy education created by "The 2 Sisters," Gail Boushey, and Joan Moser.  It has completely revolutionized my teaching and created gloriously self-driven students in my kindergarten class.  I can't wait to see how they do as first graders!  I will not claim to be anywhere near an expert at incorporating the "Daily 5" but I'm giving it an honest shot.

Grab the filled in posters here.
Please keep in mind that the things I've shared here are not endorsed by "The 2 Sisters" in any way.  I simply wanted to create a kid friendly management and information system that will go along with my use of the Daily 5 in my classroom.  With that said, if you do not have the book, get it here.  It's a great read and has so much valuable information in it that I keep referring back to.

Get the BLANK ones here.
Okay, so here's thing... I needed some anchor charts to help the kiddos manage independently so I made these.  They include picture cues to keep expectations clear, icons that indicate the voice level expected at each learning area, and the objectives of each activity.

I highly recommend that if you use these, keep them as a guide at the beginning of the year.  After awhile, when the kids have got the hang of it, take some pictures of them using the tools and managing their work appropriately and then stick those photos on these charts. Then, if you find that you need to add more objectives, change the wording of some things, or just make it your own... you have the blank version readily available. Take ownership, let the kids take ownership... only then will they be meaningful to your work in the classroom.

As a companion to these charts, I made up a new "Voice Level" chart using DJ Inkers (go figure) and plugged the pictures into the info charts so that expectations were as clear as possible.

The ADORABLE fonts are from Jennifer Jones over at Hello Literacy.  Grab a couple... they are too cute! :)

  11. Thanks everybody...you all are so thoughtful & kind to leave such positive feedback. I'm looking forward to using these this year! I can't however send an editable copy. It's because of the copyrights (which should have been a *duh* moment for me). So sorry! :)
